Brass Band
Brass Band
Brass Band CCA enables students to develop their musical abilities through hands-on experience with various brass and percussion instruments. Under teachers' and instructors' guidance, members strengthen their leadership skills whilst fostering essential values of commitment, perseverance, and teamwork. Students gain valuable performance experience through the biennial Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation, enriching their musical and educational journey.
Objectives
Brass Band members will be developed holistically across three key areas:
-
Build their musical skills through instrumental mastery, ensemble techniques, and cultivate listening abilities, rhythm, pitch accuracy, and sight-reading capabilities whilst build performance confidence and stage presence.
-
Cultivate core values such as discipline, resilience and perseverance as members tackle challenging pieces together. As an ensemble, they develop teamwork, mutual respect and a deep appreciation for music and the arts.
-
Develop leadership by empowering section leaders and band members to guide and inspire their peers. Members build confidence, communication and mentoring skills as they support juniors and contribute to performances that unite the band.

Student Experience
“When I was first assigned to Band as my CCA in P3, it was not my first choice so I thought I will not enjoy it compared to playing sports. After months of practice, I got better and better, and realised that I actually had a hidden talent for playing the trombone. Playing music is not boring but beautiful!” – Peng Yuda
