Netball
Netball
Netball CCA introduces students to the fundamentals of a fast-paced and strategic game. Through our weekly training program, netballers will not only develop physical competencies and a love for the sport but also cultivate essential life skills and values such as teamwork and sportsmanship. Netballers are nurtured to be confident, disciplined, and responsible girls who exhibit grit and resilience. The programme is designed to provide a nurturing and positive environment where every student, regardless of their skill level, can learn, grow, and have fun.
Objectives
In Netball, the girls will be developed in these three key areas:
-
Skills:
Students will learn and master fundamental netball skills such as passing, catching, footwork, and shooting. They will also gain an understanding of strategic play, including attacking and defensive tactics.
-
Values:
Through the sport, students will cultivate core values like discipline (through consistent practice), respect (for teammates, opponents, and officials), resilience (bouncing back from a loss or mistake), and integrity (playing fairly and honestly). They will learn to work collaboratively with their teammates, communicate effectively, and display good sportsmanship both on and off the court.
-
Leadership:
Opportunities are provided for students to take on leadership roles, such as team captains. This helps them to build confidence, make decisions, be good role models and motivate their peers.
Programme Highlights
-
Training Sessions: During weekly training sessions, students will undergo fitness conditioning and drills, as well as gain an understanding of strategic game play.
-
National School Games (NSG) Netball Competition: To challenge themselves, the P4 to P6 Netball School Teams compete in the annual National School Games. In the NSG Senior and Junior Division, the team competes in the ‘Pool’ stage before moving on to the ‘Tiered’ stage competition. The competition season for the Senior division runs from January to April, while the Junior division competes from July to September.
-
Friendly Matches & Carnivals: Apart from the annual championship, our P4-P6 teams participate in friendly matches with other schools and take part in netball carnivals at least once a year. These events provide valuable exposure to competitive play and allow students to apply their skills in a game environment.
