Performing Arts
Performing Arts CCAs instill in students a sense of graciousness and an appreciation for the rich and heritage of a multi-racial society. These CCAs provide opportunities for students to develop a lifelong passion for the arts. They also nurture students’ creative expression, enrich social, cultural and historical awareness, and build character.
We offer the following Performing Arts CCAs:
- Brass Band
- Choir
- Chinese Dance
- Modern Dance
- Malay Dance
Brass Band
Brass Band provides opportunities for students to develop their musical talents through learning how to play an instrument. Members hone their leadership skills through leading practice sessions and taking on higher responsibilities with guidance from their teachers-in-charge and instructors. Through the CCA, students to develop values such as dedication, resilience, diligence and camaraderie. Our band members participate in the biennial Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation, which adds an enriching dimension to the students’ learning and performing experiences.

Choir
The voice is a child’s first instrument and it is the most primitive medium used to express human emotions. Our young and vibrant choir members learn to use this “first instrument” with the right techniques while being exposed to a wide repertoire of songs, ranging from classical, jazz to contemporary songs. They develop good confidence, self-discipline and better proficiency in singing, which are necessary to become passionate and competent performers. Members can look forward to performing regularly both in school, external performances and participating in the biennial Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation.

Chinese Dance
“Three minutes on stage is the result of three years of training”. Our Chinese Dance club emphasises commitment and diligence in its members. Members learn about Chinese culture through different Chinese dance forms and are progressively guided to learn various dance techniques and skills to attain greater proficiency. Their talents are showcased regularly both in school and on the national platforms such as Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation. Members learn self-management, teamwork, responsibility and are also given the opportunities to take on leadership roles to build and develop their character.

Modern Dance
Modern Dance supports its members in their pursuits to be better dancers by exposing them to various dance genres, such as hip-hop and contemporary dance, guided by professional instructors. Their dance talents and performance skills are further honed through platforms such as the school’s Open House and the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation. In addition, members learn life skills through undertaking various leadership roles and other opportunities where they work as a team. Through the rigorous yet engaging training sessions, our dancers develop their character to become resilient, confident and competent dancers.

Malay Dance
Malay Dance aims to expand our members’ interest in the Malay dance forms and enrich their understanding of the Malay culture. Members learn the different Malay traditional dances such as Zapin, Joget and Inang Masridances. Our dancers work hard to present graceful and captivating dance movements, and build perseverance and commitment. They also forge strong friendships and good teamwork through the preparation of various performances such as the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation.
